Lawn Aeration

Lawn aeration is performed to increases the available oxygen, water, and nutrients to the lawn resulting in stronger, deeper roots. Healthy grass roots are key to a healthy lawn. Aeration is also beneficial to relieve soil compaction.

Aeration is performed by running a machine over the surface of the lawn that pulls small 2-3″ deep “plugs” of soil from throughout the lawn. This results in a series of soil cores that are left atop the lawn to naturally decompose.

Aeration is best performed in early spring (April) or fall (September), while your lawn is actively growing, as it does require a couple of weeks for your lawn to recover. Lawn aeration during the heat of summer is not recommended.

We recommend lawn aeration service be performed on either an annual or bi-annual basis, occurring in the fall.

Note: Overseeding during aeration is highly recommended as the tiny holes created in the lawn during aeration provides an ideal growing environment for new grass seed. This results in a thicker, more rejuvenated lawn.
